Photos taken in our yard on the morning of 7/31/22, with the blueberries bushes filled with ripe berries, before the day got too hot.

House finches from the front deck. And one on a wire. A Mourning Dove on the driveway, one of three. A Robin hard at work. A Northern Flicker checking out the bushes from above. Flicker steps up to the buffet. Black-headed Grosbeak. The Grosbeak would grab a berry, suck out the innards, and discard the skin., just like a certain 8-year-old I know. A Black-capped Chickadee. We hadn’t seen many since the neighbor had to remove their willow tree; glad to see the berries brought them back. A Spotted Towhee picking up the berries dropped by other birds. Another Towhee, leaving the scene. A Sparrow joins the party. A juvenile Finch? The Sparrows and Finches like to stop on the climbing structure on their way in and out of the yard. Our backyard Scrub Jays are getting bolder. This rabbit has been hanging around for the past several weeks. It seems to like the green berries as much as the ripe ones. Standing Rabbit. Here are a few photos from earlier in the week. Caught this Robin in the act. A Northern Flicker. Tough decisions….
